When it comes to email, there’s one big mistake I see many consultants and coaches make: Treating their newsletter as a simple promotional tool. (worse: not having one)
Done right, your newsletter will be one of the most powerful channels that grows and monetizes your business.
Whether you're just starting out or already seeing traction with your newsletter, knowing how to evolve it from simple marketing tool to a revenue-generating engine will make a massive difference in your business’ ability and timeline to scale.
Today, we’re breaking down the 3 stages of newsletter development: (1) clarifying your message, (2) growing & monetizing your list, and (3) systematizing your efforts to scale.

Stage 1: Clarify
Right now, your focus should be on refining your niche, offers, and positioning. Think of your newsletter as a forcing function — a place to test your ideas, clarify your messaging, and engage with your audience.
At this stage, your newsletter is a marketing channel. It’s where you move your audience from social media and other platforms into a space you control. No algorithms dictating what they see. Just you, your ideas, and potential clients who are currently just subscribers.
Your job? Earn trust, educate on the problems you solve, and tactfully introduce your offers.
